Hey everyone!
We are checking in with a house update since it has been a few weeks since we have discussed our progress. We have had a few houseguests this weekend so it has been a little crazy around here, in addition to the baby suddenly learning to crawl, necessitating a quick playpen order from Amazon so that we have a safe space for him to hang out.
One of our guests from the weekend:

Over the past few weeks we have been busily installing the backsplash in the kitchen, as well as deciding on our style of wainscoting (board and batten) for the kitchen, laundry, and dining rooms. Jordan was also able to get the pot filler installed. Here’s our finished backsplash.

And the other side.

And just for fun, our little table in the breakfast nook (set up for baby feeding time).

We still need to install the baseboards in most of the kitchen and living room, as well as finishing the wainscoting and the fireplace. As I mentioned, our son began crawling suddenly when we returned from Lexington, so we got online immediately to order a playpen. Here is our current state of affairs:

Please excuse the mess.
Parker loves his new playpen and has been pulling himself up on it constantly.
Finally, we have also decided on our wainscoting style for the kitchen, laundry, and dining rooms. We debated about types of wainscoting and settled on a clean board and batten style that will go nicely with our door trim. Here is our test piece of wainscoting that we have installed in the kitchen.

We’ll fill the holes, sand it, and paint it clean white like the rest of our trim.
That’s about as far as we have gotten since our last house update, sometimes it can be pretty slow going. Hopefully Jordan will be able to install more wainscoting this week and I can get started with filling the holes and caulking. We also have two more trips planned this summer, so we will be filling you in on those soon as well!
