Dining Room Makeover

Our dining room has been a relatively simple project, but I’m so excited for it to be almost complete! Other than the floor, which as I’ve mentioned previously is going to be a huge project when we get to it, we have pretty much everything done.

One of the first things I did when we moved into the house was paint the previously boring white dining room a nice dark slate blue (Behr Blue Metal).

We finally decided on this chandelier from Ballard Designs, in the small size and bronze.

I also picked out our rug from Rugs USA, which I was able to get on sale for just over $200. So far both rugs that I have ordered from them have been high quality and I’ve been able to get them during sales (I think they must have sales constantly), at about 75% off retail price.

Our vintage dining set was gifted to us by my in-laws, and after a lot of hard work I was able to refinish the table and chairs, and recover the chairs to match our style. You can read about how I refinished our dining set here.  I’m so happy with how it turned out!

I also added white curtains from West Elm, and took down the icky dusty blinds that were obscuring that gorgeous window.

The artwork in the dining room consists of a gold leaf painting of my horse Teddy who passed away a couple of years ago and a framed gold deer from Hobby Lobby. I’m still not sure which artwork is going to fill out the rest of this room or if we’re going to just go with some large mirrors.

Stay tuned for more updates!
